Christina Land

Christina Land is a remote-based Medical Review Nurse. Christina has been with Performant for almost four years and below she shares her thoughts on what it's like working for Performant!

HOW WOULD YOU SUMMARIZE WHAT YOU DO AT PERFORMANT?

I am a medical review nurse. I perform complex medical reviews using medical record documentation to identify potential improper Medicare payments to providers and suppliers.

CAN YOU TELL US A FEW DETAILS ABOUT THE FAVORITE PART OF YOUR JOB?

My favorite part of my job is the learning aspect. As a nurse, continuing education is very important and the job itself involves constant learning. Reviewing policies, standards of medical practice, coding principals, and diagnoses are a big part of our job, and it keeps us sharp as nurses.

HOW DOES YOUR CURRENT JOB COMPARE WITH THE PREVIOUS JOBS YOU’VE HAD?

I have been in this role with other corporations and Performant has by comparison, given me the biggest sense of work-life balance. My favorite perk at Performant is being able to work from home. Not having to commute saves time and money and allows me to perform my job at a higher level while maintaining my work-life balance. The compensation is also very competitive! 

WHAT’S UNIQUE ABOUT WORKING FOR PERFORMANT?

The most unique thing about Performant is our leadership. Our leaders are working leaders. They not only do the job they were assigned to but they know our job as well and will jump in at any given moment to help. While working with our commercial team, I had the opportunity to research policies from scratch for one of our new clients. This is an involved process of seeking out not only the client’s policies but also state administrative codes as well as Medicare and Medicaid policies. It’s one of the more time-consuming parts of our job but everyone does such a great job collaborating and building on this for each new client, making our job easier in the long run.  

DESCRIBE HOW YOU’VE GROWN PROFESSIONALLY SINCE YOU STARTED WORKING FOR PERFORMANT?

I have grown professionally in so many ways. In the time I’ve been with Performant, my knowledge base about this industry has grown exponentially giving me confidence in my role. The education department and leadership are dynamic and continually build on this knowledge keeping everyone sharp. 

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT OUR COMPANY CULTURE?

The culture at Performant is a very positive one. Everyone is supportive of each other and collaborates to meet goals. There has never been a time where I felt like I was overwhelmed. Leadership does a great job at making sure no one person is struggling. 

WHAT MAKES YOU WANT TO STAY AT PERFORMANT?

Being part of such a supportive team has made the decision to stay at Performant very easy. There are many other perks to this job, but a strong team is key.
