Stephanie Parsons is a Data Analyst based in San Angelo, Texas. Stephanie has been with Performant for over twelve years and below she shares her thoughts on what it's like working for Performant!
How would you summarize what you do at Performant?
I review claim data and assist in identifying incorrect payments and claims repricing.
Can you tell us a few details about the favorite part of your job?
I get to really dig into data and see if I can see it in a way that might not have been previously seen. I just get giddy when I get to start a new project!!! They allow me the freedom to play around with different concepts, new ideas about how to do things, and see if there are ways to save our clients money. They give me the opportunity to grow and when I find areas where I think we can save our clients money, they hear what I have to say and implement changes or let me know what pieces I missed without criticism, but support.
How does your current job compare with the previous jobs you’ve had?
I feel more heard here than I have in other jobs. In previous jobs, there were times when I would let my manager know of areas where I thought we could be more efficient, save money or increase revenue, and that wasn’t always received well. At Performant, any time I have gone to anyone in management with ideas, it has always been received well. Even if ideas were not implemented or viable, I was always given encouragement to keep looking and it was always explained to me why my ideas were not able to be implemented. They take the time to continue to show me the bigger picture and make me feel like I am part of the company. It is the most rewarding job I have ever had!
What’s unique about working for Performant?
In 35 years of working, and never having a job I didn’t like, I have never had a company make me feel more valued and appreciated then Performant. The time and effort that management – including or maybe especially – upper management makes to ensure we feel valued, heard and are informed just astounds me! I have NEVER had a company make so much effort to make sure they are communicating our vision and goals regularly. I cannot express enough how different this approach is from any other company where I have worked.
Describe how you’ve grown professionally since you started working for Performant?
Since beginning with Performant, I have learned more about coding, I have been taught how to create macros using VBA, I have improved my communication skills, I have had the opportunity to write training documents and I have been able to work with multiple vendors to learn their software.
What do you like about our company culture?
This company treats the employees like people rather than numbers. During COVID, they worked hard to make sure we didn’t have to downsize or reduce hours.
We also have wonderful communication with our upper management. We have regular meetings to know what is happening in all areas of the company – not just our department. When they make commitments, they follow through. It sometimes take a little time to get things changed, but they are committed to being a company of integrity and their word, internally and with clients.
What makes you want to stay at Performant?
I feel valued and heard at this company. I truly believe I am helping the medical insurance industry improve.
